Mead Art Museum closed 7/30-31

Please be aware that due to paving work in front of the museum, the Mead will be closed on Tuesday, July 30 and Wednesday, July 31. We look forward to welcoming you back with smoother sidewalks!

The Mead Art Museum offers free public admission six days a week, inviting visitors to experience the arts, find inspiration and joy, and connect with each other.

Located next to the towering Stearns Steeple in the heart of Amherst College’s campus, the Mead’s global collection includes over 20,000 objects spanning thousands of years. The galleries host a rotation of original and traveling exhibitions, as well as two permanent installations: a 17th century English knight's parlor, and Assyrian wall reliefs dated to the 8th century BCE.
